![]() From inventive ice sculpture displays to local wine tastings, we’ve compiled a list of towns across the Lone Star State filled with winter events where you can experience some Christmas magic.Ĭhristmas Capital of Texas events in Grapevine The "Christmas Capital of Texas" does not disappoint with its many offerings. If you want a break from crowded big-city light displays and festivals, Texas' small towns have you covered. ![]() Overall, I find it a nice event to go on a date as you can chat the entire walk and enjoy some drinks.Across Texas, cities and towns are gearing up for Christmastime. Brew nights is definitely the best time to go if you want an adult only experience. I’ve enjoyed every year I’ve gone and love to support our local zoo. I hope this gives a bit more of an insight in what to expect. They offer an EMS and military discount with valid ID. They offer some Mondays for people with sensory issues (minimal blinking lights and lower sounds) and that day is usually the cheapest. The price is more expensive on the weekends, of course. Pricing wise: I’ve seen prices from $15-40. They also serve alcohol (wine and beer) and light snacks available. The cups are cute and look like Starbucks mugs with animals on them. The zoo serves unlimited hot chocolate in their special thermos cups for about $7-8. Some of the dragons blew smoke and whipped their tails! Last year was dragons, so they fit the dragons in with the fantasy forest and they were fun to see move around and incorporated with the scenery. They tend to reuse the summer animatronics throughout the walk. The ambiance of that section is very romantic and it’s a great place to sit and talk. The lights on the oaks are timed to the music and are amazing to watch. My favorite place to sit is under the oaks at the viewing pond at the entrance. The lights in that section are psychedelic styled with mushrooms, drip lights in the trees, and fog and bubble machines. There are usually sections set up with lights for their sponsors as well.Įvery year they do a great fantasy forest light section that I would imagine is great if you are high. Last year it was cardboard cutouts, done cheaply, and I was a bit disappointed. ![]() The previous years, the train was sponsored by Macys and was an amazing, old school, Christmas village train display. I will admit, last year the train display was disappointing. This is a 60-90 min walk around the zoo with spots to stop for photos, Santa’s toy shop, photo ops with Santa, and even a train display. The only animals I’ve seen have been a seal and the local rabbits that hop the trails. They are quite vocal that you WILL NOT see any animals after hours. The event is scheduled after the zoo regular hours and usually begins around 6pm. If you do have kids, this is an opportunity to do the Santa photos experience. Weekends tend to be full with kids running around. I find that Zoo lights is a great place for a date night during the week.
